Film is a battleground for sure. Calipso doesn’t try to soften that—it builds for it. Launched in 2019 the engineering studio develops high-end modular accessories – mounts, plates, iPad cages, and precision-built gear that meets the practical demands of real sets and real creators. The brand is designed by and for cinematographers, DPs, and hardcore photographers.
Strategy
We positioned the brand as a toolkit for working professionals, who expect the beauty to follow function. The tone is tech-oriented, stoic, and precise. Inspired by modernist functionalism and modular design systems, the brand identity had to feel as engineered as the product itself.
Design
Calipso’s identity is motion-native and grounded in a the bespoke typeface – a display sans with diagonal bones, minimal compensators, and subtle attitude. A variable typographic system lets the identity stretch or snap as needed across campaigns, motion, and be flexible in packaging.
Visually, the system leans into neutral tones, and technical structure. Product visuals focus on material quality, attachment logic, and mechanical beauty – highlighting the tools, not stylizing them. The brand doesn’t overstate. It performs.
The identity has been rolled out across Calipso’s packaging, website, and social content. Designed to grow with the product ecosystem, the Calipso system is built to flex, evolve, and scale.
